As cozy as I am up here in the not-quite-chilly-yet Canadian winter, I imagine that a little California sun will not be unwelcome come midwinter!

I'll be flogging paint and books at the CAA Centenial Conference in Los Angeles from Feb. 22-24th, 2012 in the Jack Richeson Booth.  It's always an interesting and stimulating event, and as I have not been for several years, I look forward to seeing what new great art books are out there...and will hopefully have time to sit in on some of the sessions too!

Please "like" my page on Facebook!

Happy December!

I do realize that this is a stagnant blog....really.  In my own defence I must also add that blogging is not really my "thing".  A proper website will eventually come about once several things happen:
  1. I make artwork that is not complete rubbish.
  2. I have something of note to post (i.e. a show or something...)
  3. I design (or better yet, have someone talented at that sort of thing design for me) a slick but lush website.
As none of those things are currently happening, this blog will have to remain as it is.  Dull, but taking up cyber space in spite of that (like oh too many things already are).

If you are in need of looking at pretty pictures that may or may not feature paint, I recommend "liking" Tri-Art on facebook.  My colleague is always posting lovely and inspiring images.

Coming up this fall:

I will be teaching a series of workshops in the Netherlands at the end of October and into early November at the VanBeek art stores in Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Amsterdam!

What a great combination, art, paint and three fantastic cities.  Really looking forward to it, and hope to have some fun, full classes!  Also can't wait to bask in the beauty of Amsterdam - what a delicious city!

Check out the Van Beek website for updates: www.vanbeekart.nl

Details on the workshops are available in their current newsletter (details on page 31)

Videos

Just wrapped a fun video shoot with Erin Ross of Blick Art Materials in Blue Ash, Ohio.  This was my first time into the youtube fray, and also my first time in Ohio! All I can say is thank you technofolk for the invention of the teleprompter and digital media.  My background in dramatic arts seems far, far off in the very, very distant past.  Stage work and video are quite different in approach and execution.  All in all, it was fun, if a little daunting.  Although I loved the stage, I'm not currently much one for being the focus of the camera.  I prefer to let the work, or in this case, the product, speak for itself.  I should also add that the team I worked with were so wonderful and patient with me! Thank you Erin, Ric, Phil and Libby!

There is, however, a case to be made for promotion of materials when they are new, or yet unknown, to out target market.  Tri-Art Liquid Acrylics and Mediums were the focus of these short videos, and as I passionately feel that they are indispensable materials for the acrylic and mixed media artist, and so despite my discomfort with the camera, it was my absolute honour to flaunt them.

Vids will be nipped and tucked and ready for viewing in a couple of months.  Stay tuned!
