Well, it's that time of year again, time to head off to the not-so-big-anymore Art Materials trade show.  It's an industry show that ought to be better attended, particularly given how much effort the manufacturers, suppliers and other exhibitors put into it.  So if you are an art materials retailer, please come out to Phoenix next week and come see what new and cool things we've got for you to try out! Booth #1021

Tri-Art will be showcasing some new products, and showing off our custom locally made packaging.  Our team will be happy to demo any and all of our products, talk paint, talk New Acrylics books, talk ART!

On a more personal note, as Ontario has so far ignored the fact that it's spring, it will be lovely to bask in a bit of hot weather and not get snowed upon!

As for workshops, sadly, there are none coming up for me.  I am still in the midst of re-discovering my painting voice, while doing my Tri-Art work, attempting to responsibly raise my pre-pubescent daughter, and teach the ropes to our new and very chewy puppy!  I was thinking that it might be time for me to take a workshop or two myself, I could certainly use the direction and inspiration, and there are some fantastic teachers out there!  If anyone has any recommendations, I would surely appreciate it.

Book Signing

I will be signing books at the Barnes & Noble booth (located directly outside the Kentia Exhibit Hall, one level down from the main lobby) from 11-12am, Saturday January 29th at the CHA show!

Rheni Tauchid, author of The New Acrylics books demonstrates Indirect Painting With Tri-Art Liquid Acrylics, Acrylic Mediums& Spectral Colour. Print, Stamp, Stick, and Stencil. Using an array of acrylics and mediums to produce incidental and accidental impressions ideal for artist trading cards, scrapbooking and altered books. All products supplied by Jack Richeson & Co.

 BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN CRAFT & FINE ART  (W0306)

Introducing traditional fine art mediums and materials to craft style artists. Julie invites you to experiment with Tri-Art Acrylics & Shiva Artist’s Paintstiks Oil Paints to achieve effects not obtainable with entry level or bargain priced materials. Participants will create a figure portrait on a 10" x 10" maple panel, transferring the figure template with Richeson Transfer Paper & graphite art pencils. Mixed media elements will be applied to create a unique piece.

This foray into the wild and crazy crafters world should be a ton of fun, so much pretty, and so much inspiration!  As a primarily abstract painter, I find the process of creating workshops that have a very specific focus is a terrific way to bring a bit more discipline to my usually very loose style.  I appreciate the blend of these two not-so-different art worlds.

CHA...getting my craft on!

Well, no sooner am I back from a flurry of trips abroad doing numerous conferences, shows, demos and workshops, than it's time to start planning for the next series.  Once I get in the rhythm of being home again, and having proper sleeps, I'll start getting excited!  Looking forward though to the next couple of months, when the plan is to not do a whole heck of a lot besides be in the studio, and be in home mode.

Coming up on the last weekend of January 2011, I'll be in L.A. at the CHA winter trade show and convention, giving a couple of workshops.  Check out "What a Relief!" and "Acrylic Impressions", taking place Friday, January 28th, 2011.

Get ready to get your crafty with Tri-Art liquid acrylics and mediums! We're going to make some beautiful art together!

Are you nervous about entering the Fine Art arena? Julie Bergmann will lead you from the functional to the fine in her first CHA workshop, "Bridging the Gap between Craft & Fine Art", on Friday, January 28th, 2011.

Next up....Austin, TX

For my first time in Texas, I'm excited to be attending the Texas Art Teachers Association conference in Austin.  I hear great things about the city, and I'm keen to check it out!  Might even have to get me a pair of boots, and certainly going to be tasting some barbecue!

I will be teaching two workshops this time around, Rheotech: Acrylic Beauty on a Budget with an Eye to the Planet and Art Noise & Solucryl: The Omnipotent Academic Acrylics.
